Owen Sound, ON – The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Grey Bruce extends its heartfelt gratitude to Owen Sound Attack captain Landen Hookey for his incredible leadership in raising awareness for mental health and suicide prevention.

Hookey, along with his sister and graphic designer Jordyn Knowles, created the Keep Climbing hoodies to honour a loved one lost to suicide. The green tone-on-tone hooded sweatshirts feature a striking mountainscape logo, the words Keep Climbing, and the powerful message, The world is a better place with you in it. Each hoodie also prominently displays the 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline, ensuring more people know where to turn in times of need.

The response to the campaign was overwhelming, with over 200 hoodies selling out in record time. Through this initiative, an incredible $6,625 was raised to support CMHA Grey Bruce’s mental health programs, helping provide essential services to individuals and families across the region.

“Losing a loved one to suicide is heartbreaking, but turning that pain into action speaks volumes about Landen’s character and commitment to making a difference,” said Don Vail, Manager of Communications and Funding at CMHA Grey Bruce. “By using his platform to promote mental health awareness, he is helping to break the stigma and remind people that they are not alone and that support is available.”

CMHA Grey Bruce also extends its sincere thanks to the Owen Sound Attack organization for their invaluable support in promoting, organizing, and selling the hoodies through the Attack Shack and team website. Their dedication to this cause played a crucial role in the campaign’s success and in spreading the message of mental health awareness throughout the community.

Keep Climbing is more than just a slogan—it’s a message of hope and resilience that will continue to inspire and support many. CMHA Grey Bruce is deeply grateful to Landen, his family, the Owen Sound Attack, and everyone who supported this initiative for their generosity and commitment to mental health advocacy.
