Honouring National Indigenous History Month in Grey Bruce and Across Ontario
May 30, 2025
June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to honour, reflect, and celebrate the diverse histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. It’s also a time to take action by learning, listening, and supporting the journey of truth, healing, and reconciliation.
Throughout the month, we encourage you to participate in events that highlight Indigenous perspectives, from educational workshops and pow wows to art exhibits and film screenings. Whether attending in person or engaging virtually, there are many ways to connect, reflect, and support.

🔗 Event Details
Indigenous History Month reminds us to reflect on the realities Indigenous Peoples have endured and the truths that still demand our attention. It’s a chance to deepen our understanding of Indigenous Peoples by learning about their histories, ways of life, and the lived realities that continue to shape this land. It also means acknowledging the legacy of residential schools, the violence of colonial systems and the lasting grief carried through generations, while honouring a strength and resilience that continues to endure.
We understand that true mental health support must be Indigenous-led. It must be rooted in culture, safety and self-determination and not imposed by systems that have historically done harm.
We also recognize that the mental health impacts of colonization, systemic racism and intergenerational trauma are not history. They are lived experiences, here and now.
