Collaboration Enhances Access to Outpatient Mental Health and Addictions Care for Durham Area Residents

December 3, 2024 – South Bruce Grey Health Centre (SBGHC), Brightshores Health System (Brightshores) and the Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce (CMHA Grey Bruce) are proud to announce a collaborative effort to improve access to outpatient mental health and addictions care in the region.

As part of this collaboration, Brightshores will provide outpatient mental health and addiction services at the Durham hospital site, supported by CMHA Grey Bruce. This shared location brings vital support closer to home for Durham area residents, improving accessibility and ensuring they have easier access to the care they need.

“Brightshores and CMHA work together to provide mental health and addictions care across Grey Bruce. Having a location in Durham is an asset to our care delivery. This collaboration with SBGHC will improve the support that we provide to our communities through outpatient mental health and addiction care,” said Naomi Vodden, Director of Mental Health and Addictions Services, Brightshores.

This collaboration is grounded in a patient-first, team-based approach to care, ensuring accessible and effective support for the community.

“Access to mental health and addictions care is essential for the health and wellbeing of our communities.  We are excited for this opportunity to collaborate with our local health system partners to enhance access to care for this specialized service,” said Nancy Shaw, SBGHC President and CEO.
