CMHA Grey Bruce Receives Transformational Support from 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce
Apr 27, 2026
The Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce is deeply grateful to 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce for their remarkable donation of $39,400 in support of local housing and mental health initiatives.
The funding, announced following the group’s March 28 meeting, reflects the incredible impact that can happen when people come together with a shared goal of helping others in their community.
“This is an incredible show of generosity and community spirit,” said Stephen Musehl, CEO of CMHA Grey Bruce. “We are truly thankful to the women of 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce. Their support will have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of people we serve.”
Creating Safe, Stable Housing
A portion of the donation will be used to renovate an apartment currently in poor condition, transforming it into two safe and stable homes. Once complete, the units will support up to four individuals who are currently unhoused or living in unstable situations.
Access to safe housing is a critical step toward recovery. Across Grey and Bruce, the need remains significant, and initiatives like this help create real movement forward by reducing waitlists and opening doors for those in need.
Welcome Home Kits That Restore Dignity
The remaining funds will support the creation of Welcome Home Kits for individuals moving into housing.
For many, moving into a new space comes with very few belongings. These kits will include everyday essentials like bedding, kitchen items, cleaning supplies, and lighting. While simple, these items make a meaningful difference by helping people settle in, feel comfortable, and begin building a sense of home.
Supporting People Beyond Housing
At CMHA Grey Bruce, supportive housing goes beyond providing a place to live. Individuals receive guidance from staff who help with life skills such as budgeting, identifying needs, and connecting with services in their community.
Programs are delivered across the region, including Owen Sound, Hanover, Port Elgin, Walkerton, and Wiarton, ensuring people have access to support close to home.
The Power of Collective Giving
Since 2013, 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce has donated more than $500,000 to local organizations. Their model is simple yet powerful. Members meet four times a year, each contributing $100 and voting to support a local cause. Together, those individual contributions create immediate and meaningful impact.
“We see every day how much community support matters,” added Musehl. “This donation will help people move forward with stability, dignity, and hope.”
CMHA Grey Bruce extends sincere thanks to every member of 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce for their generosity and commitment to strengthening our community.
