4th Annual Walk For Courage – July 19th 2025

The 4th Annual Walk for Courage Takes Place July 19th – Now in Two Locations Plus a Virtual Option

Grey Bruce, ON – The 4th Annual Walk for Courage is happening Saturday, July 19th, 2025. This year’s event offers more ways than ever to take part. In addition to the original walk at Owen Sound Fitness & Training, a new in-person walk will be held at Sulphur Spring Conservation Area in Hanover, and an added virtual option will give those that can not make it to an in-person site the freedom to walk from home.

This 5km walk supports mental health and suicide prevention through the Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce. Whether you’re walking in honour of someone or showing support for those facing mental health challenges, you’ll be helping to cultivate hope, resilience, and community for people impacted by mental illness.

The Walk for Courage was started by the Courage family in memory of Jeff Courage, who died by suicide in 2019. What began as a way to honour Jeff’s life and raise awareness for mental health challenges, has grown into a powerful annual event that brings people together and helps fund vital local mental health services.

We are blown away by how this walk continues to grow each year,” says Greg Courage. “It’s a way to keep Jeff’s memory alive and help others in our community who are struggling. We’re grateful to everyone who walks with us.”

Being part of this event has been incredibly moving,” says Don Vail, Communications & Fund Development Manager at CMHA Grey Bruce. “Suicide can impact anyone. While the reason we walk is heavy, the event itself is filled with hope. You see people smiling, connecting, and taking steps together toward a better future.”

The 2025 Walk for Courage also marks the introduction of sponsorships, with Owen Sound Fitness and Training already confirmed as the Owen Sound Site Sponsor, Tibbs ATM and Baywest Nissan as a Gold Sponsor and Owen Sound Subaru, Owen Sound Dental Clinic, RBC, and Jerry Pfeil Mazda as a Silver Sponsor. To become a sponsor, visit: greybruce.cmha.ca/walksponsor.

Another exciting addition is an online auction launching closer to the event, featuring fantastic items generously donated by local businesses and supporters.

As we launch the new Hanover location of the walk, we’re calling on the community to help bring it to life. To make this event a success, we’re encouraging individuals, businesses, local organizations, EMS workers, town staff, and community groups to form teams and sign up. Let’s come together and show that Hanover stands up for mental health.
