2,000 Push-Ups in 18 Days: Are You Up for the Challenge, Grey Bruce?

This February, CMHA Grey Bruce is rallying the community to push for better mental health by participating in The Push-Up Challenge, a fitness-based initiative that combines physical activity, education, and connection to support mental health.

The challenge involves completing 2,000 push-ups over 18 days, beginning February 11th. The number 2,000 reflects the approximate number of lives lost to suicide each day worldwide, bringing awareness to this critical issue while encouraging participants to prioritize their own mental health.

“The Push-Up Challenge gives people in Grey Bruce an opportunity to not only improve their fitness but also support vital mental health initiatives,” said Don Vail, CMHA Grey Bruce Manager of Communications and Fundraising. “Seeing the community rally together last year to raise over $30,000 was truly inspiring, and we’re excited to see even more people get involved this year.”

Participants of all ages and abilities can take part, with modifications available for push-ups, including sit-ups, squats, or other exercises. Progress is tracked through a dedicated app that also provides mental health facts and fundraising tools. While fundraising is optional, participants are encouraged to raise funds to support CMHA Grey Bruce and its vital mental health services.

In 2024, The Push-Up Challenge saw incredible participation across Canada, with over 49,000 Canadians completing the challenge and raising $2.4 million for mental health. This year, CMHA Grey Bruce is encouraging workplaces, schools, clubs, and individuals in Grey Bruce to join the movement and make an impact in our local community.

Participants can register as individuals or form teams, making it a great opportunity for businesses, gyms, schools, or families to come together for a great cause. To get involved, visit www.thepushupchallenge.ca.

Let’s push for better mental health together, Grey Bruce!
