On September 2nd, join us from 11 am to 2pm for a Teddy Bear invasion at Harrison Park as the Youth Awareness programs of CMHA Grey Bruce host the 6th Annual “Back to School Teddy Bear Picnic”.
Families are invited to bring their own picnic blanket and lunch, or enjoy lunch from the beautiful Harrison Park Inn.
There will be lots of activity stations including games provided by Georgian Bay Woodworking, St. John Ambulance Therapy Dogs, the Home Depot workshop, the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library Story Tent, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Lauren’s Best Practice Arts music workshop and Chalk the Walk with Community Living Owen Sound & District. Buster from Owen Sound Police Services will be on hand to insure every child has a Teddy Bear for the picnic.
There will also be a Teddy Bear picnic photo booth, free raffle and lemonade for all.
The name of the game will be to get stocked up on all you need for Back to School mental health! Each family will receive a take home package full of lots of Back to School resources such as Public Health’s Healthy Smiles program, United Way, 211, Jumpstart, Kids Help Phone and many more.
BUT the highlight of the day will be the send off Teddy Bear parade as we circle the playground and picnic shelter, showing off our Teddy Bear companions – a trusted support that is always there when we need to talk!
Thank you to our event sponsor Sound Life Solutions. They will have staff on hand to help families access government Registered Education Savings plan start up funding.
This is a free event for all to attend! Everyone is welcome.
